Meet Duckey

Available For Adoption

Duckey is a special kitty to NASAP. She has been in foster care since 2020! She has been in foster care the longest of any of our cats.

Duckey is a sweet kitty that came to Nasap when her family couldn’t afford vet care. She had pretty bad teeth and needed a dental. She is a laid back kitty and likes to lounge on her cat condo. She enjoys sitting beside her foster mom and getting lots of rubs. Duckey has lived with young kids and enjoyed following them around and greeting them at the door. She has been around other cats, and while she will tolerate other calm cats, she much prefers to be the only pet. While in care Duckey has had 2 dental procedures and a couple teeth removed. Following her first dental, Duckey developed Hyperesthesia Syndrome. This disorder causes Duckey to feel overwhelmed and she would get twitchy and feel the need to hide. Other symptoms include sporadic movements sometimes seen as the zoomies, infrequent bowel movements and troubles with urinating at times. This syndrome while it has physical symptoms is classified as a compulsive behavioural disorder. Duckey is currently on a daily medication that keeps her calm and regulates her compulsive behaviour. Since she started the medication, Duckey has responded very well and is back to her normal self. Duckey will need her daily medication life long and costs about $5/day. However, none of this has stopped her from being her lovable and playful self!

Her foster family has discovered that she loves yogurt and will help her foster mom out by cleaning the tops of containers! She has learned to walk on leash, take her medication like a champ, and wear any and all the silly costumes available to her. Duckey is waiting for someone to see past her illness to the kitty beneath. Duckey is truly a one of a kind kitty and she’s just waiting for someone to give her a chance to prove it!
