Meet Poppi the professional cuddle-bug!
Poppi came to us because her mom was too ill and we want to make sure she gets an amazing home. Poppi is very playful and she is learning to live with other animals. She can be timid and with her size she needs a patient home that will encourage her independence.
She will do amazing with small dogs to play with her and continue her training. Poppi loves her walks and being outside, she is super excited to be your summer companion! Poppi even loved the snow so she will be up for adventures year round!
Poppi will do best with a calmer home as she startles easily while she is learning the world around her. Building her confidence has been our primary goal as she is sweet as can be!
Poppi would love to have someone who is home all the time but she is appropriate when left alone. She even prefers to sleep in her own special space and is crate trained. But she also loves to cuddle on the couch and be with her people.
Poppi is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
UPDATE**
Poppi has had so many loving families inquire about her, we were overwhelmed with how desired she is!! We met a lot of loving families and once we narrowed down a loving home for Poppi we reviewed her medical file to make sure everything was up to date and ready to go, however we realized prior to coming to NASAP it was found she had luxating patellas and baby teeth that had not fully fallen out. Her previous owner was told to monitor these conditions, as she was still young and it could take time to remedy itself.
Once we realized this was an outstanding follow up we whisked Poppi to our amazing partner vet to do a throughout assessment. On May 23 our vet confirmed that her luxating patellas were still present in both knees (unstable knee joint) and her baby teeth were still embedded. We were told surgery could be done but with Poppi being so young we wanted to ensure this was the best course of action for her quality of life!
She met an orthopaedic surgeon to confirm her diagnosis and treatment plan on June 5! The team at Guardian was wonderful, they immediately assessed Poppi and confirmed she did in fact have luxating patellas however only 1 knee actually needed surgery not both!! Our NASAP board wanted the best quality of life for Poppi so her surgery was booked for June 12!
She is still in recovery but we will provide updates as we can. Check out our social media pages for more updates too!
Poppi will not be adopted until she is medically cleared from this extensive surgery, she will require 6-8 weeks of rehab to ensure her muscles and bones are healed and she is able to walk properly.
