Meet Zeke

Adopted

Hi, my name is Zeke. I am a big goofy guy who loves to play. I could play with my favorite toys for hours! I also really love running and wrestling with my foster sister. She says I’m a lot of fun to play with, but that I’d do better with a dog my own age because I tire her out. Im really good at listening to her, though, when she tells me she is all done playing.

I really love everything and everyone. Foster mom says that my heart is sooo big, it’s even bigger than my brain! I think thats a compliment, right? I want to share my love with everyone I see, and am still learning that not everyone wants a big ball of love hurdling towards them. I would probably do best in a home without smaller animals, because it kind of frustrates me that they don’t want to play with me. I want to play with them sooo bad.

My foster parents say I’m a like a puppy trapped in a grown-ups body. I missed learning a few things when I was little, but I’m starting to get the hang of some basics! I’m learning all kinds of new things, such as “sit”, “stay”, “leave-it”, and some recall as well. I’m also doing a really good job learning that the best way to get what I want, is to be patient and wait until my foster parents give the okay.

I can sometimes have a hard time ramping down once I get playful and excited, so family that can be calm and patient with me would be best. But I really love my crate, and when I need to have some quiet time, I’m happy to go relax in there. That’s where I always like to go rest anyways.

I started on anxiety medications on September 25. They are helping me so much to enjoy the world and experience it, rather then just react and be over stimulated. NASAP is very excited for me to have a great quality of life and all of the supports I need.

I am an excellent protector, too. I defend the house against the ice machine and the vacuum. No need to fear when I’m here! I like to be close to my people so that I know they’re safe. It’s okay if they’re away from home, but when they’re around, I don’t like to be left out. I’m trying to learn that it’s okay not to be involved in everything, but life is just so exciting, I don’t want to miss a thing!

All in all, I’m a pretty great guy. With a bit of love and patience, I could make a great addition to your life!
